Immortalizer Συνέντευξη του Dave στο statusvoice
Dear Dave D.R , welcome to Status Voice. It is a big honor to have you here with us.
My pleasure! Thanks for having me on Status Voice!
Tell us a few things about you and your project , Immortalizer!
Everything got started in 1995 when I started learning drums. I’ve spent the past 28 years immersed in music, developing my skills with drums, guitar, vocals, bass and keyboards. Starting at 8 years old, I’ve quite literally devoted my life to music.
Immortalizer got started in 2015 after I decided to continue on solo. My band at the time went on hiatus so I decided to focus solely on Immortalizer. I’ve always love to write full songs, so it was a very natural transition to writing and recording each instrument.
So you have a brand new album called “Born For Metal” , with excellent tracks , classic heavy metal influences and I can say , rock party feeling!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! It was a lot of work, but I’m very pleased with the end results.
Tell us more about your influences and the bands you grow up listening.
I’ve been obsessed with music since I was a little kid, so the list is quite extensive. But among the most impactful on me was Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Primal Fear, Alice Cooper, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Saxon, Dio, Helloween, Symphony X, Metallica, Van Halen and Kiss.
Mixing and mastering of the album by the mighty Ralf Scheepers and also the guest vocals at “We Were Born For Metal”! Share with us your feelings for this collaboration.
It was an incredible journey/experience. I’ve been a huge fan of Ralf’s and Primal Fear since I was a teenager, so it was quite literally a dream come true for me to have him mixing and mastering the entire album and have him featured on it as well! I’m always going to be grateful to Ralf for all his help and support. One of the biggest joys has been becoming friends during our time working together.
You are a multi instrument player, an one man band! Was this your choice or just happened because you didn’t find the right players for you project?
When I started Immortalizer my plan was always to eventually get a full band together to be able to tour and perform, but in the early stages lots of things were going on. There was some rough years back to back. One of the main issues was me moving from city to city. I left Ottawa to live in Toronto then moved across the country to Vancouver BC. Here I hope to start auditioning potential bandmates very soon and continuing to record the next albums.
As I listened to “Born For Metal” album , first of all I had a great time , and also I traveled in another era in the past , with all these mega bands. But you serve this with a great respect to the pioneers and with a modern essence and sound!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. A lot of my influences shine through in my music. The response so far has been really amazing. It means a lot that so many enjoy my music.
Who is responsible for the great artwork of the album and also the Immortalizer logo?
I was very fortunate to have Jobert Mello of Sledgehammer Graphix do all my artwork and logo’s! He’s a truly gifted artist and I’m very proud to have his art connected to mine.
What are your future plans for Immortalizer?
At the moment I’ve been quite busy with the first album release. When I can I continue to write and record the second album! I’m also hoping to get a full crew together soon, including management and of course bandmates to be able to grow as a band and bring Immortalizer to the stage!
Imagine that you have the opportunity to work in a track or an album with your number one favorite band or artist.
That would be insanely cool. I have so many favourites it would be so hard to choose. Rob Halford & Judas Priest, Ozzy/Black Sabbath, Dave Mustaine & Megadeth and Alice Cooper would all be way up there. I would have absolutely loved working with Lemmy Kilmister and Motörhead as well. But I must say, I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to work directly with Ralf Scheepers who’s one of my biggest heroes!
Thank you very much for this interview, we wish you the best for the future!
Thank you so much!
Cheers!
